Dawna Huhman, APRN owns and operates AMHCC. She was raised in rural southeast Kansas on a farm and values coming from a small town where people know and support their neighbors. She started her nursing career at a small nursing home as a CNA at age 16. Her interest in science led her to work in various roles in a local hospital while attending college, and she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Pittsburg State University in 1998. Dawna and her husband moved to Wichita, where she worked in a high-risk labor and delivery unit for eight years and later returned to school to obtain a Master’s Degree in Nursing from WSU in 2006, qualifying as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has since worked in several rural primary care clinics.
Dawna lives in Kingman with her family and is active in the community. She has two adult children and two younger children in local schools. She enjoys spending time with her children, traveling, baking, reading, socializing, and volunteering both locally and on medical mission trips to Panajachel, Guatemala. Although she attends craft fairs, she does not consider herself crafty.
Dawna’s goal for AMHCC and its patients is to, “Serve as a resource to the local community by promoting preventive health care services while creating a clinic environment where patients are treated like family, working together to address the barriers and challenges associated with acute and chronic health conditions.”
